I have this notebook: HP 250 G7 Notebook PC/86C1, BIOS F.33 07/31/2020t

I can see that the kernel detects the camera:

kernel: usb 1-5: New USB device strings: Mfr=3, Product=1, SerialNumber=2
kernel: usb 1-5: Product: HP Webcam
kernel: usb 1-5: Manufacturer: Chicony Electronics Co.,Ltd.
kernel: usb 1-5: SerialNumber: 0x0001

But the Ubuntu Camera application does not want to see it. Can I fix this?

  • Try installing cheese with sudo apt install cheese. Run cheese from terminal, and post the error message, if any error is present
